AEC is an industry that has the complexity of rallying multiple professions, crafts, and companies to design and construct complex structures for owners. The climate is changing. Owners still want projects completed on time and within budget; however, now the standard of collaboration is adding LEAN principles and integrated project delivery (IPD). All entities are coming together in new ways through contracting, incentives, and shared risk/reward.
Brenda has been on the owner side through multiple, large-scale projects, including building a hospital from the ground up and she has consulted on the AEC side, helping integrate people that have historically worked on fragmented teams to integrate and realize the benefit of their collective wisdom.
Working together, she can help lead industry changes and benefit owners and the AEC professions by:
- Helping bridge the organization structure challenge by moving AEC members to a commercial relationship (relational interactions versus the AEC historical transactional interactions)
- Identifying key competencies necessary for effective integrated teams
- Assessing multi-company teams to recognize the opportunity to succeed is directly connected to the performance of the other project participants (all for one, one for all mentality)
- Facilitating development of key competencies
- Assessing for effective sales attributes
- Linking to the value-based buying process and key stakeholders
- Identifying blockers to success
- Building skills in targeted development areas
